The original food trucks initially offered signature kimchi fries and quesadillas. The menu grew in the brand’s move to brick and mortar restaurants with customizable bowl meals and Korean ssam wraps . Today, Chi’Lanto customers can create their own bowls by choosing a base , a protein , and hot toppings such as black beans, grilled corn, grilled vegetables, caramelized kimchi, queso, as well as fresh and pickled vegetables.
“Houston is the first place I moved to in Texas,” the founder and CEO said. “I love the city. I love how it’s so diverse and such a foodie city. Our natural progression after Austin was to come to Houston. We wanted to come back.” Kim also is giving back to the community in rekindling his relationship with Houston. Prior to the grand opening, Chi’Lanto will host two events accessible. Complimentary food will be served during the two pre-opening dates aimed at encouraging donations to MD Anderson Pediatric Cancer Fund for Neurofibromatosis type 2 .
"I'm motivated to give back to a cause that means so much to me. I'm doing it for my sister who passed away due to NF2. We are looking forward to celebrating our opening while supporting a good cause," Kim said. Chi’Lanto also is looking to expand in Houston with two or three additional locations.
