The Chery Fulwin T8 PHEV offers a compelling combination of practicality and advanced technology. With a range exceeding 1,200 miles and fast charging capability, it targets consumers seeking eco-friendly transportation without sacrificing distance.
Chery has unveiled the latest edition of its SUV lineup, the Fulwin T8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Now available for pre-sale in China, the Fulwin T8 comes in 5-seater and 7-seater variants with price tags of $15K and $21.5K respectively. The PHEV has a fuel consumption of 1.30L/62miles, with a worldwide harmonized light vehicles test cycle (WLTC) comprehensive range of 746 miles. The vehicle’s real-world-tested comprehensive range has been clocked at 1,292 miles.
Under fast charging, it takes 19 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%. According to reports, the vehicle’s body comprises 80% high-strength steel and 20% hot-rolled steel. Aesthetically, the new Fulwin T8 follows the main design legacy of the Fulwin series, featuring an octagonal closed grille decorated with diamond dot matrix elements and the series logo.The T8 features a roof spoiler and a high-mounted brake light at the back. It also features a through-type taillight group embedded with the FULWIN letter logo. Under the hood, Chery’s newcomes in two main variants: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The former can chuck out 101 hp (75 kW) and 125 Nm, while the turbocharged engine outputs 154 hp (115 kW) and 220 Nm. The entire series has a front electric motor that outputs 150 kW (201 hp) and 310 Nm. The car supports five driving modes: HEV, EV, standard, economy, and sports. The PHEV’s lithium iron phosphate battery pack also comes with a couple of options, namely 18.46 kWh and 18.66 kWh. This should be enough to provide a range between 40 miles and 81 miles. The car measures 15.5 feet (4.73 m) long, 6.1 feet (1.86 m) wide, and 5.73 feet (1.75 m) high. It also has a wheelbase of 8.9 feet (2.71 m) and weighs in at 2.07 tons and 2.1 tons for the 5-seater and 7-seater versions respectively.Inside the vehicle, the Fulwin T8 has a 10.25-inch instrument panel and a 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition central control touch screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. It also features a Lion 5.0 innovative cockpit system that supports the 4G network, voice recognition/control, and mobile phone APP remote control. Amazingly, the interior also benefits from heated seating and a 10-point massage function when the driver and passenger need to relax. From a safety perspective, the car has nine interior airbags, and 18 level 2+ advanced driving assistance capabilities.It also has built-in mobile phone wireless charging on the center console, seat heating, ventilation, massage functions on the top trims, ambient lighting, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system.
