CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Commanding the lead, Chelski sprinted to the finish in the top class on Opening Day at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on May 4.
The $3,450 featured Fillies and Mares Pace featured driver Corey MacPherson having the call on the Jennifer Doyle-trainee as part of a training triple from her Earnsclife operation.Chelski struck the lead last the quarter in 30.2, then grabbed a 32-second breather in the second split of 1:02.2, before hitting three-quarters in 1:32.1.
The final stanza was a snappy 28 flat panel as Tobins Brownie charged up to finish second with pocket-sitter Elm Grove Mistress third. Jeffrey and Robert Skinner of Nova Scotia share ownership of the seven-year-old daughter of Rollwithitharry-Safety Net. Other Doyle winners included Spectrum Seelster in 1:56.2 and First Glance with an identical 1:56.2 clocking.Driver Marc Campbell recorded a hat trick on the evening card, winning with Imalookertoo for trainer Jeff Holmes, Pendleton Rodeo from his own barn and St Charles Fireball for trainer Vaughan Doyle.For more information, go to Redshores.ca.
