Romeo Lavia is out for the rest of the season. Chelsea have confirmed midfielder Romeo Lavia has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. The Belgium international has suffered a setback in his recovery from an injury he sustained against Crystal Palace in December. The midfielder joined Chelsea in a £60million deal from Southampton last summer, rejecting Liverpool in the process.
Chelsea’s medical staff hoped Lavia would return this month, but his setback means he has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. It’s a bitter blow for Mauricio Pochettino, who has had to contend with a depleted squad this term. His side languish in the Premier League, but they are through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they will face Manchester City. Chelsea host Burnley at Stamford Bridge this Saturday when they resume their Premier League campaign.
