Some of these players have failed to reach the standards they’ve previously set; others have so far struggled to achieve the potential their clubs see in them. Either way, they’re all probably glad to see the back of 2022/23…Leeds, like Meslier, made many mistakes this season. On the club’s part, not having a quality back-up or alternative to the France Under-21 international was an error, but there was more to Meslier’s decline than a lack of competition. And the warning signs were there.
