Most recently it has been closed for around nine months
A Nottingham pub full of charm and character has reopened its doors once again after the most recent nine-month closure. Fellows, Morton & Clayton has suffered uncertainty and multiple closures - even before the pandemic struck.
New tenants were sought at the end of 2022. Before that, in 2017 and 2018, the pub suffered several shutdowns and at one point metal shutters were installed over the windows. But now the doors of the historic 19th-century red brick building are open once again. Richard Steventon, who has reopened the pub in Canal Street, said: "We believe that it's a fantastic pub that needs to be shouted from the roof tops."
The Grade II-listed building, dating back to 1895, had a makeover inside and out in 2018. Backing on to the canal, the pub is named after what was once the largest and best-known canal transportation company in England. Once part of their collection of wharf buildings, it was transformed into a pub in the 1980s.
The pub, which now belongs to Stonegate, is known for showing sport and it has a function room upstairs.
