Kidd Hospitality purchased the Grade II* listed Woodborough Hall in 2022 after the previous operator went into receivership
Significant renovation works have restored a historic Nottinghamshire hall to its former glory, according to its owner. Kidd Hospitality, which purchased the Grade II* listed Woodborough Hall in 2022 after the previous operator went into receivership, says the building's second stage of refurbishment has successfully transformed the structure that was previously in a "state of disrepair".
His nephew, Captain Sir George Mansfield Smith-Cumming, was the first chief of the British Secret Intelligence service and MI6 is said to have been started when Smith-Cumming founded the Secret Service during a secret meeting in the hall in 1909. The Hall was also home to Hucknall’s AOC No 12 Fighter Group prior to the Second World War and was subsequently passed to the Army in 1959.
“We have a number of period features, all of which were lovingly retained, including a very historic staircase. The beautiful gardens are also being carefully tended and the exterior of the building has been given a fresh bill of health to bring it back to its former grandeur,” “This meant it was crucial to find the right chef. We recruited Tom Paxton who, with an impressive CV behind him, was brought in to create the new menu and provide a touch of class to proceedings in the kitchen.
