Director Neil Marshall's horror movie is getting a first look stateside after opening the Fantasia Festival in Montreal.
, which stars Charlotte Kirk, is set to receive a U.S. premiere at the Beyond Fest in Los Angeles at the Mission Tiki Drive-In Theatre on Tuesday night.
Marshall's period drama is set against the backdrop of England's Great Plague and subsequent witch hunts. Kirk plays the role of Evelyn Haverstock, a young widow facing the recent suicide of her husband and who is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous landlord after she rejects his unwanted sexual overtures.
Earlier, The Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal opened its virtual edition with a special screening ofKirk and Marshall have been the focus of media coverage after NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer was ousted by the Hollywood studio following his disclosure of a prior relationship with Kirk.battle involving top Hollywood powerbrokers to silence Kirk regarding a claim of nonconsensual sex in 2013.
The U.S. debut for Marshall's horror movie is part of the Beyond Fest lineup for its 2020 edition set to run through Oct. 8.
