Charles Barkley said today on 'CNN This Morning' that the actions of Republican election deniers – particularly Arizona GOP gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake – were “frustrating” and a bad pattern for the country. Barkley lives in Arizona. More:
Barkley, an Alabama native who now lives in Arizona, said he didn’t know Lake well but described her as “cordial” and “friendly.”
He criticized her, however, for her comments that the 2020 presidential election was rigged and that she would not have voted to certify President Joe Biden’s win in Arizona. Lake’s opponent, Democrat Katie Hobbs, was declared the winner of Arizona’s gubernatorial race on Monday, something also questioned by GOP nominee.Barkley said Lake’s behavior in recent years has been “frustrating and disappointing.”
“All these election deniers, are they all just saying elections are legit if they win? That’s the thing that’s frustrating to me. Are Republicans going to say unless we win that the election was stolen? Is that the motto we’re going to have for the rest of history? If they don’t win an election that it was stolen? And that was the thing that bothered me the most about watching Kari,” Barkley said.“I am an independent. I vote for whoever the hell I want to vote for.
