James Potter will be cycling 220 miles to raise money for Brain Tumour Research after losing his dad to the deadly disease
A Hampshire man is taking on a cycling challenge to raise money for Brain Tumour Research after losing his dad to the deadly disease.
Anthony, who was director of the Storage Advisory Centre, was initially diagnosed with malignant melanoma. “My dad was a persistent character, so when he found out he had terminal brain cancer, he decided it was time to learn to play the piano. James, 51, said: “Dad came to terms with what was happening but it was still very distressing to see him deteriorate.
In July 2020, he raised more than £2,000 by cycling 109 miles of the South Downs Way on his mountain bike. "The route takes in a lot of hills with over 85 per cent of it offroad. Training is hard but it’s going well and I’m now up to 100 miles offroad a week and increasing steadily – a massive step up from my normal 20 miles a week.
