Whittmore said the driver of the vehicle with the migrants called 911 and informed the Waller County Sheriff’s Office about the kidnapping. Around 4:30 a.m., FBI agents said an agent, out of Quantico, Virginia, shot one of the suspects, whose identity has not yet been released. The other suspect, Jackson, was arrested at the scene.
“All the hostages have been safely rescued, no FBI agents are injured, and one individual is deceased,” the FBI said in a statement, adding there was no longer a threat to public safety. The FBI declined to say if the person who was fatally shot was one of the kidnappers.
