Chaminade QB Seth Shigg passes for three touchdowns and rushes for two more.
WEST HILLS — It was a fairy tale first half for the Chaminade football team Friday night. Not only was it Homecoming night, but it was also the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 Chaminade football team that won the Division II state championship.
“This was more than just us on the field. We’re representing ourselves, representing Chaminade but also representing all the people that used to play here and come to school here,” said senior offensive tackle David Abajian. “It’s good to be able to come out and put on a show for them and show them that Chaminade is still strong and still holding it down.”
His first rushing attempt went for a 19-yard touchdown, as he maintained his balance and plowed through Alemany defenders. Shigg and the rest of the starters got to enjoy the second half from the sidelines and watch some of the younger players on the team gain experience. All three of Shigg’s touchdown passes went to different receivers. Along with Hearn’s 15-yard touchdown, Logan Carpenter scored on a 29-yard catch and Tre Fernandez scored a 60-yard touchdown on a ball that Shigg dropped right into his lap.
