Jaccob Stoner's clutch pin in the final bout secured a 37-32 victory for Chambersburg over Cumberland Valley in a back-and-forth dual meet. After trailing by as many as nine points, Chambersburg rallied with consecutive decisions and Stoner's decisive pin to overcome the Eagles.
– Chambersburg trailed Cumberland Valley by one point entering the final bout of their dual meet Wednesday.
“There’s not really much nerves, just go out there and wrestle to the best of my ability,” Stoner said of his mindset. “Just going out there and doing what my coaches tell me to do.” Chambersburg jumped out to an early 17-0 lead with the bouts starting at 215, where Omar Henchey received a forfeit. Then, at 285, Frank Barientos brought in six more for the Trojans with a 15-second pin before going down to the lightweights. Isaac Brambley extended the lead to 17 with a tech fall win at 107, cementing a dominant start for the Trojans.
Cumberland Valley tied the score at 17, then built as large as a 32-23 lead courtesy of winning six of seven bouts from 114 through 152. The Eagles got wins from Montes, Mitchell, Connor Killion , Gordon Hung , Logan Maurer and Jacob Mitchell in the run.
