The Treasurer said it was important Australians were meeting their tax obligations amid new data-matching systems being introduced with a focus on those earning extra money through side hustles.
The ATO last week spruiked an expansion of its data-matching capabilities with a record number of Australians turning to online platforms to earn extra money.
The ATO will then match the data against what has been submitted to them in the form of tax returns or activity statements.
