Deloitte Access Economics Lead Partner Dr Pradeep Philip says Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ plan to end 15 years of deficit is a “good test for the government”.
“Will they bank the majority of this to the bottom line and resist the urge to spend too much,” he told Sky News Australia.
“Now one of the things that they announced in October if you look at the expenditure profile over the … estimates, it was pretty flat, but we do know that there are big pressures on the budget.”
