Denji in his Chainsaw Man form in front of a background featuring Asa and Denji.
Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #194After a string of some of the heaviest entries in the series, Chainsaw Man's latest chapter #194,"Fun School Festival", is a much-needed rest from the action, allowing both the characters and readers a moment to breathe.
The previous Aging Devil arc was one of the manga's most ambitious, featuring the death of a beloved character, a showdown between Chainsaw Man and the War Devil, and a bit of travel between separate worlds. And while Denji and Yoru became a tad too friendly, one character faded to the background. Closing the chapter on a cliffhanger, however, Asa Mitaka has returned with a potential"bang!". Towards the beginning of Chainsaw Man Part Two's serialization, Asa barged into the series, stole the hearts of readers, and slid into the role of one of the series' dual protagonists. Since then, her time in the spotlight has diminished somewhat, as Denji slowly began dominating the narrative's focus. After enduring one traumatic experience after another, though, Asa is back and doesn't seem to be messing around. Asa Steals Back Her Body and the Spotlight in Chainsaw Man's Recent Cliffhanger Asa Turns Her Weapon of War Towards Denji Close Recent Chainsaw Man chapters have been defined by Denji and Yoru becoming close, the two sharing one of the most twisted dates in the series, before becoming a little too acquainted. Meanwhile, Asa, in whose body Yoru continues to parade around, faded off the page as though she were an afterthought of all the destruction and carnage lining the manga's recent events. After some more bonding between Denji and Yoru in chapter #194, however, Asa finally reappears, and her finger, locked and loaded, is pointed directly at the series' main character. The chapter ends before the audience can find out whether the infamous"bang!" leaves her mouth, though after all she's been forced to endure in recent chapters, it might not be a bad bet to assume it does. The panel comes with some intriguing imagery, as well. Denji, staring unsurprised at the girl he claimed to like, is on the left, while Asa, gun gauntlet pointed directly at the boy she swore to save, is on the right. In between them, the corner of a building separates the two with a straight line. Asa Is Nearing the Point of No Return Chainsaw Man's Central Awkward Girl Is at Her Limit Only a few short chapters ago, Yoru claimed that Asa's mind was just about ready to break, and that taking any more lives might leave her permanently scarred. Directly following this line, Yoru went on a rampage, killing countless civilians and taking physical advantage of Denji yet again. If Yoru's statement is to be believed, and there's little reason it shouldn't, Asa is certainly not in a proper state of mind by the time she regains control of her body in chapter #194. She's currently a danger, not only to Denji, but to herself. Posts Given her history of trauma and willingness to let everything go during the Falling Devil arc, a broken and battered Asa may just turn her new weapon on herself. In which case, readers will certainly hope Denji will step in and talk her out of it. Chainsaw Man's relatively peaceful moment was seemingly short-lived, as the most recent chapter ends in a cliffhanger that could have serious consequences for the series' two protagonists.
