The 11-story St. James hotel, formerly a Ramada, will be renamed the Palihotel and will include a new restaurant and roof deck.
The 11-story Ramada St. James hotel, which opened more than a century ago in downtown San Diego, is on tap for a major makeover and a name change, but its classic chandeliers and original tin ceilings will remain.
Von Stiening was unable to provide the cost of the renovation. He noted that the acquisition is already starting to look like a wise investment, given the local hospitality market’s rapid comeback following the pandemic. Also planned is a rooftop deck for hotel guests that will feature lounge seating and a daily social hour with small bites, wine and cocktails.
