The Central PA Humane Society is constructing a new, larger shelter that will triple its animal capacity. Construction is set to begin in the spring after the completion of floor plans and permitting.
By springtime, what’s now an untouched lot will have the beginnings of a new home for hundreds of animals. The Central PA Humane Society is one step closer to constructing a new shelter, which is set to house three times the number of animals it currently holds. Just days ago, Joseph Zolna with the shelter said that the official floor plans for the new building were completed.Now, Zolna said the building closer than ever to becoming a reality.
We've finally gotten our completed floor plans and draft design for the new shelter. We've been going back and forth between permitting processes and just the land that we had, elevation checks and things like that. We finally got everything situated, approved, ready to rock, ready to go forward and start this building,” said Zolna. He said that the new building will feature public walking areas, outdoor gazebos for visitations, and more. “We’ll have three times the capacity for animals, which is a huge plus. Unfortunately, we need that, but we are able to accommodate it because we've been called out to so many other counties and areasWe are going to have an open to public vet clinic that is going to be huge for this community,” he explained.He also said that a groundbreaking ceremony will happen shortly, and construction will begin in the spring
