The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection declared Saturday as a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for several counties in the Susquehanna Valley. Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, Lancaster and York counties are being affected by fine particle pollution, the DEP said in a release.
The DEP said concentrations will likely decrease in the afternoon, but parts of the area will see average daily concentrations within the Code Orange range . Sensitive groups, including children, older adults and those with respiratory conditions like asthma, emphysema and bronchitis are urged to avoid heavy outdoor activity during this time. Additionally, the DEP says residents and businesses in the area can help reduce air pollution by reducing fireplace and wood stove use, avoid openly burning materials and avoiding the use of gas-powered lawn and garden equipment.More people are getting hooked on this gas station drug, PA addiction physician says There’s a largely-unregulated drug sold in gas stations across Harrisburg that is increasingly worrying health experts due to its opioid-like tendencies. Two employees of a Lancaster school district are on leave after an elementary school student with autism walked off campus and was found in the community.Gov.
