Celtic would love to re-sign Jota this summer if Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are looking to get him off the books., former Scotland defender Alan Hutton claimed the club would be happy to have the winger back, but would not be willing to fork out for his asking price.
Having left Parkhead for Al-Ittihad in a £25million deal just one year ago, Hutton insisted both the club and the fans would welcome the 25-year-old back. Since his move last summer, Jota has featured in just 25 games in Saudi Arabia after a turbulent start to the season saw him left out of the registered squad in the first half of the season. The Saudi club are now looking to move him on this summer, with a potential return to Celtic floated after his previous success at Parkhead.
Hutton expects the club to entertain a deal if the opportunity arises, but explained that his asking price will likely prevent a permanent deal. What he did at the club was outstanding and they got a lot of money in for him. “The problem is, he’s only played one season and I’m sure he would have signed a long-term deal, so to get him out would cost a pretty pennyIf there was a deal to be done, I’m sure Celtic would like to explore it and I’m sure all the fans would want him back
