Stand-up comedian Cedric the Entertainer was the first celebrity revealed on the new season of 'The Masked Singer.' Honey Pot, as he was known on the show, said that many people recognized his voice right away.
On Wednesday’s lucky Season 13 premiere of 'The Masked Singer', a new batch of contestants entered the competition – but Cedric the Entertainer was the first celebrity to be revealed and sent home. The stand-up comedian, actor and television host, known for being one of the original Kings of Comedy, was concealed as Honey Pot during the show, but he revealed that a lot of people still knew it was him.
'They were like ‘I heard your voice right away, and I knew that was you,’' the 60-year-old comedian shared with FOX Television Stations on Thursday.Cedric the Entertainer is known for his roles in film and television series, including the 'Barbershop' trilogy, the 'Madagascar' trilogy, 'The Steve Harvey Show' and 'Ice Age.' In 2019, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As an entertainer for decades, he revealed that this isn’t the first time he has been asked to be on the popular FOX series. 'I've been asked to do it a couple of times,' he said, adding, 'But last year, my good friend Anthony Anderson, who I have my barbecue company with AC Barbeque, he went on. And he was all bragging about how well he did. And I was like, all right, I got to top this guy.' She’d be fun. And my co-star on this show Tichina Arnold. She's got a great voice and would be fun. She would kill it.' This season, fifteen brand new masked celebrities will compete for the coveted prize of The Golden Mask Trophy. Panelists Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, alongside host Nick Cannon, return to the series. The new season will commemorate acclaimed franchises 'Shrek' and 'Ghostbusters,' along with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of The Grand Ole Opry. The new season will also pay tribute to the Rat Pack by honoring the iconic crooners with salutes to their music catalogues. 'The Masked Singer' will also see the return of fan-favorite themes such as 'Soundtrack of My Life,' 'Decades' and 'Boy Bands,' with other all-new themes including 'Olympus: Unmasking the Gods' and 'Carnival.' The themes will be woven throughout the performers’ song selections, costumes and set design, and may even provide clues as to who is under the mask! New this season, Lucky Duck will be introduced and will be pointing out subtle hints and offering up tasty tidbits throughout the season to help fans guess which celebrities are hiding beneath the masks and elaborate costumes.
