Cecily Strong makes SNL return in skit mocking Pete Hegseth and Jeanine Pirro
Cecily Strong made a surprise return to “ Saturday Night Live ” over the weekend as she appeared alongside Colin Jost in a sketch poking fun at Trump administration officials Jeanine Pirro and Pete Hegseth .
The “SNL” alum came back to play former New York prosecutor and Fox News host Pirro in the wake of President Trump recently naming her as interim US Attorney for Washington, DC. James Austin Johnson as President Trump, Cecily Strong as Jeanine Pirro and Colin Jost as Pete Hegseth grab laughs during a sketch on “SNL” on Saturday.The sketch began with a crack at Trump’s tariffs, a recurring theme on the NBC show in recent weeks.But moving on to “good news,” he then told the audience he had “just appointed one of the loudest people I know to be the US attorney in DC, Jeanine Pirro,” as Strong walked on stage to applause.Revealed: Why Lorne Michaels told Jack Black he thought Desi Arnaz was going to die during 1976 ‘SNL’ episode“And what a team, Mr President,” Strong’s Pirro said. “I’m so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, boozehounds and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed.” Johnson’s Trump called “Pirro” a “great legal mind,” adding that she had the “most important quality I look for in a lawyer — she’s on TV.”It isn’t the first time Strong has impersonated Pirro on “SNL,” and she marked Saturday’s appearance by bringing back a running gag where she did a spit-take directed at “Weekend Update” segment anchor Jost. “I love Pete Hegseth. He’s my old drinking buddy,” Strong’s Pirro said as Jost as Hegseth came on stage. The sketch culminated with Strong’s Pirro spraying what appeared to be red wine in Jost’s mouth to the delight of the liberal audience.“Folks, they’re not the A Team.
