Just about a year on the job, Columbus City Schools superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman is getting a clear indication of what board members think of her work so far.Dr. Chapman's annual evaluation paints a picture of where the district is headed.
Dr. Chapman received an overall score of 2.81 on a 4-point scale. The board described Dr. Chapman as skilled at the job. They point to improvements in the district's graduation rates and early literacy. "Well, I just have to take it for what it is. This is one board member's assessment. I don't know who that individual board member was, so I don't have an opportunity to engage in a one-on-one conversation to identify what areas we can focus on, to really lean into that," Dr. Chapman said.
One of the most pressing revolves around what to do with district facilities. She indicates school board members will need more research before final calls are made.
