A West Philippine Sea monitor reported a sighting of a China Coast Guard ship “cruising” near Manila Bay on Thursday morning.
Powell is also the program head of Stanford University’s Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation which monitors the activities of Chinese vessels in the South China Sea. CCG 3301 has been in the West Philippine Sea since July 22, and was last spotted near El Nido, Palawan, the Philippine Coast Guard confirmed.
On Tuesday, the Philippine Navy said that the number of Chinese vessels in the WPS further decreased, possibly due to the bad weather conditions in the area.
