No team scored less than 80 points in an NBA game this season... until the Cavaliers tonight. Onto Sunday!
Mitchell -- the native New Yorker who grew up about 25 miles away from famed Madison Square Garden -- can still remember the deafening roars from his first playoff game at basketball’s mecca. That was more than a decade ago. Mitchell was only a young boy at the time. But it’s an experience he will never forget.
Mitchell scored a team-high 22 points on 9 of 19 shooting and 2 of 8 from beyond the arc in 38 minutes, being pulled midway through the fourth quarter -- the proverbial white flag of surrender. Things almost went from bad to worse in the second half as the young point guard rolled his ankle on a baseline cameraman and hobbled to the bench. Even though Garland returned to the game and hit a couple late-game jumpers to make his stat line look a bit better, it was far too late.
