ICYMI: In the second meeting between the two teams in three days, Cleveland stomped Charlotte on Tuesday night, 120-104. The triumph punctuated a successful 3-1 road trip that began in Miami last week.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Hornets, March 14, 2023CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Cavs didn’t need a double-digit comeback this time.

“I thought we handled our business,” Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “There were no lapses, no messing with the game. We understand the job that we had to do, and we went out and did it. The thing I was most impressed with is how we went about it. We didn’t try to go for knockout blows. We just continued to chip away. Just build the lead slowly without trying to do too much. A really professional attitude tonight.

Turnovers were the story. The Cavs forced 15 first-half miscues while committing just one -- a key to Cleveland’s 15-point halftime edge. Despite discussing the importance of taking care of the ball in the locker room at the break, Charlotte opened the second half in similar fashion, with back-to-back miscues on the first two possessions. Those blunders allowed Cleveland to build its biggest lead of the night -- 19 points.

With around four minutes left and the game well in hand, Bickerstaff emptied the bench, putting in Raul Neto, Sam Merrill, Dylan Windler, Danny Green and Isaiah Mobley. That quintet put the finishing touches on the blowout. Mobley and Windler each made a basket in that stretch. Caris LeVert -- stepping into the starting lineup for Mitchell, who was held out for injury management related to his sprained left middle finger -- was impactful in every way, finishing with 22 points, seven assists, four rebounds and four steals in 27 minutes. Darius Garland added 19 points and seven dimes. Lamar Stevens, who earned his second straight start for Allen because of a right eye contusion, chipped in with 11 points.
