The Cavs opened this cross-country four-game road trip with a 128-120 loss against the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s the second loss to OKC in the first three weeks, with the Thunder also spoiling Cleveland’s home opener on Oct. 27.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff gloated pregame about the team’s recent turnaround on the defensive end of the floor.

Down double digits at the end of the third quarter, Bickerstaff turned to his starting group -- Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen -- for an early-quarter push. The spirited Cavs trimmed the lead down to five, forcing the young Thunder to call timeout and put Shai Gilgeous-Alexander back in the game around the eight-minute mark. But even with his re-insertion, Cleveland kept surging.

The Cavs tried everyone and everything against SGA. Strus. Mitchell. Mobley. Caris LeVert. Blitzes. Switches. Hedges. Nothing worked.
