CLEVELAND, Ohio -The Cleveland Cavaliers opened the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, and fans filled Rocket Arena for an official watch party to cheer on the Wine and Gold.
The Cavs punched their ticket back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2018 after beating the Detroit Pistons in Game 7 Sunday night. Inside Rocket Arena, the energy was loud from the start — with rally towels waving and fans chanting, “Let ’em know! ”Another fan added, “You can’t get this at home. ” Tuesday’s watch party comes as Cleveland makes its fourth straight postseason appearance and the 26th playoff trip in franchise history.
Fans said they’re hoping to keep the momentum going against New York. Another told us, “I think we’re going to do great. The Knicks don’t know how to play us. They don’t know how to defend us.
” Beyond the game itself, fans also took in the full game-night atmosphere, including appearances by the Cavaliers mascot and entertainment teams, along with giveaways, photo opportunities and on-court activities. Aly Ambrookian, Cleveland Cavaliers, Senior Director of Integrated Marketing, said the team wanted to bring fans together while the Cavs play on the road in New York.
“The Cavs are on the road tonight facing the Knicks in New York, and we’ve brought Cavs fans down to Rocket Arena to celebrate and cheer on the Cavs from home,” Ambrookian said. She added, “We have the best fans in the NBA. They show up whether it’s on the road, at home, and they’re loud and they’re early. ”Fans will get another chance to watch together for Game 2 on Thursday night. Rocket Arena will open one hour before tipoff.
