The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a two-way contract on a Paris Olympics standout with Team South Sudan, free agent power forward JT Thor, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.Following a one-and-done season with the Auburn Tigers, the 6-foot-9 big man was selected with the No. 37 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
Thor became more of a consistent presence in the Hornets' rotation during his subsequent two seasons with the club. He appeared in 69 and 63 games across the last two years but never averaged more than 14 minutes a night. All told, across 165 bouts with Charlotte in three years , Thor averaged 3.2 points on .418/.320/.644 shooting splits, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.5 assists a night.Charlotte eventually cut the 21-year-old in June.
