The Bird-in-Hand Corporation announced an update Monday to the fire that shut down the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord back in January.

The fire occurred only one month after a gas leak caused an explosion at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn, destroying the community staple and killing one of its workers. In addition, the Corporation said "all underground tans and lines near the hotel and restaurant will be replaced." As construction continues, the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord and he Bird-in-Hand Stage will temporarily relocate to the former Revere Tavern, located at 3063 Lincoln Highway East.The Corporation said the restaurant employed 95 people at the time of the kitchen fire and that some of them will be able to return to work at the temporary restaurant location.As for the rest of the employees, the company said it is working on "alternative employment opportunities.
