Actress Laura Dern features in a scene that appears in Caught Stealing after the credits have started rolling. Dern portrays the mother of Butler’s Hank Thompson in the movie. Throughout the main runtime of Caught Stealing, the audience members only hear the voice of Hank’s mother. Hank speaks to her over the phone from New York City while she is in California. Their conversation often revolves around their shared love for the San Francisco Giants. Hank used to be a promising baseball prospect, but his career came to a sudden halt due to an injury he sustained in a car accident.
