Cathy Guisewite, a cartoonist who created the comic strip 'Cathy,' coped with the confusion she felt during the late '70s by scribbling pictures of her frustration. 'Seeing myself in my drawings made me feel better.'
The ‘Cathy’ creator was urged by her mother to submit her drawings to press syndicates. The biggest one saw the valueCathy Guisewite, 68, is a cartoonist who created the comic strip “Cathy.” The syndicated strip ran from 1976 to 2010 and poked fun at the personal and work issues of women. She is the author of “Fifty Things That Aren’t My Fault” . She spoke with Marc Myers.
A “Cathy” moment in my early childhood came on Halloween in second grade. That day, everyone brought a boxed costume to school, but one girl convinced a few of us to stage a rebellion.
