Tacoma Police teamed up with a local car dealer this week to etch unique ID's on the critical car part to prevent bad guys from wanting to steal them.

Tacoma police said their etching program works. They said reported thefts of catalytic converters in Tacoma have dropped by more than 79% since the start of the program last year.
