Castro doesn’t necessarily have a huge base to transfer over to Warren—but he does have a great deal of goodwill among progressives
dropped out of the Democratic primary, progressive quarters bemoaned the loss of yet another candidate of color, not to mention one who championed issues like the legality of border crossing that might not otherwise have made their way into the conversation.
Less than a week after he took himself out of the running, Castro is lending some of that cred toannouncing his endorsement on Monday. “There’s one candidate I see who’s unafraid to fight like hell to make sure America’s promise will be there for everyone,” he said. “Elizabeth and I share a vision of America where everyone counts. An America where people—not wealthy or well-connected—are put first.” He added, “I’m proud to join her in the fight for big, structural change.
