Who should play in the live-action Naruto movie?
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The live-action adaptation of Naruto will have quite the job coming up with a cast that accurately represents the characters from Masashi Kishimoto's anime. The project was announced by Lionsgate back in 2015, and though there has been little word over the years between the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 WGA strike, it can be assumed that the film will eventually make it to home screens.
13 Sakura - Oona O’Brien At the beginning of Naruto, Sakura's main contribution to her team is her brains. Still, she eventually becomes a powerful physical force to be reconned with, so an actor who can embody this is a must. Oona O'Brien has already proven that this is something she is capable of with her role as Devon in Cobra Kai. Devon is a no-nonsense character, which is a little more similar to the version of Sakura that she allows the world to see.
10 Shikamaru - Daniel DiMaggio Impossibly intelligent but entirely unbothered, Shikamaru is another character that needs an actor who can pull off the "I really just don't care" attitude. Still, what's even more important than this would be his chemistry with the actors that play his teammates, Ino and Choji. More than any other Naruto team, Ino–Shika–Chō is a conjoined unit, depending heavily on each other to make their skills work.
7 Ino - Maddie Zeigler Ino is an essential character to Sakura's character arc and is, therefore, an important one to include in the Naruto remake. Seen initially as little more than pretty and shallow, she eventually proves herself to be a serious fighter—much better than Sakura in the beginning. This makes professional dancer and actor Maddie Zeigler a great fit.
4 Third Hokage - Forest Whitaker Gruff but entirely likable, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, is the guardian or guide character of the Naruto series until his death. Still, he was deeply flawed, having made several poor decisions regarding his pupils . This all came with his position, which gave the Hokage a constant sense of fatigue at having to make all the hard leadership choices. For this role, a seasoned actor is required.
