Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT There are still three Avatar movies left from director James Cameron, and here are 10 actors that frequently collaborate with the actor that could appear in the upcoming movies.

The Avatar franchise is already massive, with all kinds of characters, locations, and storylines existing within the world of Pandora, and that's after only two movies. The next three Avatar movies will undoubtedly expand the universe of the franchise even further, and with that means the introduction of more characters. Luckily, Avatar's James Cameron already has a massive pool of actors to pull from, and here is who they could play. Avatar: The Way of Water is the second film in the franchise, with it releasing 13 years after the original Avatar. Avatar: The Way of Water was a massive critical and commercial success, meaning that the plans for James Cameron's epic five-movie Avatar saga are still moving forward. Avatar 3 is set to release in December 2025, meaning that casting news should be coming out soon. Although Cameron has been solely focusing on Avatar since the development of the 2009 original, he has made plenty of films before, with many of them featuring these beloved actors. 10 Linda Hamilton A Relative Of Dr. Grace Linda Hamilton is an actress whos career is defined by James Cameron, so it would only make sense for her to appear in the Avatar saga. Hamilton's big break was in Cameron's The Terminator, and the sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day showed that she is a certified action star. Because of this, Linda Hamilton could easily play a Na'vi or an RDA soldier, showing that she still has it decades after Terminator 2. Linda Hamilton's age and appearance also mean that she could play a family member of Sigourney Weaver's Dr. Grace, possibly when the Sully family travels to Earth. 9 Jamie Lee Curtis An Omatikaya Na'vi 1994's True Lies is a film that expanded Jamie Lee Curtis' career even further, with the fact that she headlined a James Cameron film making her perfect for a role in Avatar. Curtis is no stranger to franchises, with her playing major roles in series like Halloween and Knives Out. Although Curtis' typical roles are less action-oriented than some of the other entries on this list, she could easily be seen playing a CGI Na'vi, following in the footsteps of other Cameron actors like Kate Winslet or CCH Pounder. 8 Ed Harris A Metkayina Villain Ed Harris is an incredibly talented actor who is still working today, but he made his mark in the James Cameron history books by starring in the 1989 film The Abyss. The film takes place in the deepest parts of the ocean, and due to Harris' history of appearing in James Cameron water movies, it would be a nice nod to cast him as a Na'vi member of the Metkayina clan. Harris also has a track record of playing villains, so casting the actor as a Metkayina Na'vi who isn't fully onboard with allying with the Omatikaya would be an interesting role for him. 7 Lance Henriksen An RDA Higher-Up Lance Henriksen is an actor that has had roles in two major James Cameron films, with him playing LAPD detective Hal Vukovich in The Terminator, and more notably the android Bishop in Aliens. Lance Henriksen is known for playing people who are cool, calm, and in control, meaning that he wouldn't fit as an RDA soldier or another Na'vi. However, making Henriksen one of the higher ups in RDA's corporate side could be incredibly interesting, diving deeper into the organization's history. 6 Michael Biehn A Former RDA Soldier Who Changed His Ways Michael Biehn is another incredibly frequent James Cameron collaborator, with him playing Sgt. Kyle Reese in the original Terminator timeline as well as appearing in The Abyss and Aliens. Thus, it only makes sense for Biehn to return in Avatar, with him having played roles in Cameron's other major franchises. In the original The Terminator, Biehn plays a time-traveling soldier hero, so having him play a soldier that turns against the RDA in a fashion similar to Jake Sully would be a fun callback to his original Cameron role. 5 Billy Zane Another Businessman On Pandora Although Avatar: The Way of Water and Titanic already have some major connections, including the casting of Rose actress Kate Winslet, the cast of Titanic can be even further integrated into the Avatar sequels through Billy Zane. In Titanic, Billy Zane plays the wealthy antagonist Caledon Hockley, although he has played a variety of heroes and villains throughout his filmography. Although he could fill a lot of shoes in the Avatar universe, Zane would work best as a villainous businessman hoping to get rich off of something like unobtanium or Amrita, continuing his Titanic role trend. 4 Kathy Bates Jake Sully's Mom Much like Billy Zane, actress Kathy Bates also appears in Titanic, and the acclaimed performer could easily bring her magic to a character in the Avatar universe. Kathy Bates is not an acting star, with her being much more known for her dramatic and comedic character acting work. However, since Avatar is going to Earth in a future movie, Bates could easily play the yet-unseen mother of Jake Sully, Camille Sully. 3 Robert Patrick A Deadly RDA General Robert Patrick plays one of the most memorable villains in James Cameron's filmography, with him being most famous for playing the terrifying T-100 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Thus, Robert Patrick has to play a villain in the Avatar movies. Patrick is most famous for his cold and expressionless face in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, meaning that he should stay human in order to keep this attribute. So, Robert Patrick would best be cast as an RDA general, bringing his deadliness into the Avatar franchise. 2 Arnold Schwarzenegger Colonel Quaritch's Replacement Close Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of James Cameron's most iconic collaborators, with his career exploding due to his work as the titular killer robot in James Cameron's The Terminator. Schwarzenegger has returned to reprise his role in each of the Cameron Terminatormovies as well as the non-Cameron films, but he should expand into another franchise: Avatar. Schwarzenegger's physicality and history of playing action heroes and military men would mean he is the perfect replacement for Colonel Quaritch, especially if Avatar 3 continues Quaritch's redemption story. 1 Leonardo DiCaprio Another Heroic Na'vi Close Although he would be hard to get, it would be incredibly to have Leonardo DiCaprio play a Na'vi in a future Avatar movie. DiCaprio was the star of Titanic, meaning that he once headlined the highest-grossing film of all time. Now that Avatar has taken Titanic's spot, Avatar 3 should give DiCaprio the chance to reclaim his throne by casting him. Avatar movies may seem outside of DiCaprio's typical fare, but his relationship with James Cameron and the franchise's massive commercial gains mean that casting DiCaprio in Avatar isn't outside the realm of possibility. The Abyss PG-13 Mystery Thriller Adventure Drama Sci-Fi The Abyss is James Cameron's fourth feature film and his second water-themed movie. Starring Ed Harris, Michael Biehn, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, the 1989 drama that revolves around a team of oil workers and Navy SEALs who face a mysterious alien race at the bottom of the ocean. Director James Cameron Release Date August 9, 1989 Studio 20th Century Distributor 20th Century Writers James Cameron Cast Michael Biehn , Leo Burmeister , Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio , Ed Harris , Todd Graff Runtime 140 minutes Budget $70 million
