In a new report, however, The Times claims the royal met with Mahfouz in 2016, where a private ceremony in Buckingham Palace's Blue Drawing Room - reserved for heads of state - was conducted, to bestow the aforementioned honour. Usually, the publication reports, up to 60 recipients are invited to either the palace ballroom or a room at Windsor Castle, and are called forward for the queen, or another member of the royal family representing her, to be honoured.According to the report, Charles thereafter allegedly sent the Saudi tycoon a 'thank you' letter and a carriage clock gift after he donated millions towards his charity work.
