Police in Bucyrus say they may have saved a child’s life after stopping a Marion County Children Services caseworker who was headed to a home visit.
Marion County Children Services caseworker arrested in January on cocaine, fentanyl charges in Bucyrus, Ohio. Erika Funfgeld, a Marion County Children Services caseworker, told Bucyrus police during a traffic stop in January that she was on her way to a home visit for one of her Marion County Children Service cases.
March 16, 2026 Officers received a 911 call about the caseworker’s car and were told the vehicle was “all over the road.” The stop happened Jan. 30, according to body-worn camera footage from Bucyrus police.was identified as Erika Funfgeld, who worked for Marion County Children Services until police say they pulled fentanyl from her car. Police described Funfgeld as lethargic during the stop. Funfgeld told officers she was on her way to a home visit for one of her children services cases.
