What would Carrie Bradshaw be doing during the pandemic? Sarah Jessica Parker says baking, but one writer has another idea.

like everyone else in quarantine, Parker responded: “She would! I would be so curious to see [how she’d handle it]. Having to take a few minutes to figure out who’s going to the grocery store? How are they dealing with masks? Has she seen anybody else? How seriously did they take the quarantine and the lockdown? And I’m sure Big and Carrie took it seriously.

at that point in pop-culture history—but it sure as hell would be today, in a COVID-19 world. If I had to put money on Carrie’s pandemic proclivities, I’d be willing to bet she’d be one of the New Yorkers throwing caution to the wind at crowded restaurants, or even absconding to secret indoor parties.

Maybe I’m being too harsh on Carrie, but if there’s one thing I’m absolutely certain of, it’s that she would never deign to bake banana bread, no matter how bored she got in seclusion. If Carrie really were living through the pandemic, she’d be browsing TheRealReal and smoking a pack a day with zero concern for how COVID-19 can affect your airways. Charlotte, bake? Sure. Miranda? Why not.

I don’t know why I’m so fixated on preserving the memory of a self-centered, stiletto-heeled Carrie Bradshaw; maybe it’s because she embodies something ephemeral and blessedly fleeting about New York. Carrie and her ilk were the last of a blissfully oblivious, hard-partying, expense account–having Manhattanite breed whose presence I don’t particularly miss, but for some reason, I don’t want to see her legacy erased, either.
