Jamie Carragher outlines the key reason Jurgen Klopp
Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool and other Premier League clubs did not make solid attempts to sign James Maddison ahead of Tottenham is down to his favoured position.
In his latest column for the Telegraph, the 45-year-old stated that Maddison is "quickly becoming one of his favourite Premier League footballers," due to his "throwback style" personality. He also posed the question of why Spurs were relatively unchallenged for the 26-year-old's signature - a debate for which he could provide a definitive answer.
"Maddison excels most as an out-and-out number 10. Over the last six years - or certainly since Pep Guardiola’s 4-3-3 began dominating world football – such players are an endangered species.
