“I think we all realise that playing against a deep-defending side is the most difficult thing in football, to be creative,” he told talkSPORT after the match.“We had to make a big change at the last second, pretty much, before the game as Thiago was not available and it should not have been too much of a problem, but Hendo [Jordan Henderson] was not allowed to start as well for medical reasons.
“But it was not all that complicated – the situations where we gave the ball away were just wrong decisions. We created chances and got set pieces, and we should have scored three or four times at least, and then we’re talking about a different game. “I cannot see that that’s the reason. This week with three games in six days, that’s definitely difficult to get through with a limited squad. That makes it complicated, but again, that was not our problem today, our problem is we didn’t use chances we usually use.
