BREAKING: Carphone Warehouse axes 2,900 jobs as all 531 stores shut

Retailer Dixons Carphone has said it will axe 2,900 jobs under plans to close all 531 of its standalone Carphone Warehouse stores.

Dixons said ‘almost 40%’ of people who will lose their jobs will be given new positions in the company. The store closures are part of a plan to turn around the company’s mobile business, it said on Tuesday. The Carphone Warehouse stores being shut represent 8% of Dixons Carphone’s total UK selling space, it said.
