The current Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner is standing for the role again on May 2
Caroline Henry says she "didn't hurt anybody" when she was caught speeding five times as Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner . Mrs Henry, standing again as the Conservative Party candidate for PCC at the May 2 election, committed five speeding offences across Nottinghamshire over the course of four months.
The Conservative candidate said: "I've spoken about this before, I am really apologetic for going over 30mph, it was a long time ago, it was three years ago. I promised to crack on and deliver and do my job and I have delivered more police and safer streets."I went over 30mph and I shouldn't have, there was things happening in my life... I was having an horrendous time with my daughter being incredibly poorly.
Mrs Henry was also asked about her claim that crime has fallen since her election 2021, given ONS data showing the opposite. Mrs Henry said: "I don't carry all the stats in my head, I'm more about stories and I know that people are seeing more police on the streets and I'm getting some really good feedback on that."
