Carlyle on May 1 reported earnings attributable to common unitholders quadrupled in the first quarter from the same period a year earlier, to $137 million or $1.18 per diluted common unit. The private-equity firm’s distributable earnings, which excludes mark-to-market gains and losses on the firm’s investments, declined 31 percent to 25 cents a unit. That trailed the mean analyst estimate of 36 cents, according to I/B/E/S data from Refinitiv.
Revenue grew 55 percent year-on-year to $1.1 billion. The firm raised $6.9 billion in fresh capital from investors in the quarter, and $32.3 billion over the past 12 months, boosting assets under management to $222 billion.
