The new dates will avoid a conflict with the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, currently played the same first week of April.
Carlton Woods has hosted national events. Over its Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio courses, Carlton Woods has hosted the 2004 Texas State Amateur, 2007 USGA State Team Championship, 2011 Texas State Mid-Amateur, 2013 Southern Amateur and 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur. Originally owned by Tenneco, new owners took over the 900-acre property at Houston Oaks in 2006 and have made it into a resort-like atmosphere. Renowned architect Chet Williams recently redesigned the 18-hole layout.
