Carlos Yulo misses the all-around podium in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships as he struggles on the pommel horse and horizontal bar, negating his masterclass on the floor exercise and parallel bars.
MANILA, Philippines – Carlos Yulo failed to build on a sensational start and landed eighth in the men’s all-around finals of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, England on Friday, November 4 .
The pommel horse continued to be the Achilles’ heel for the reigning SEA Games titlist, who recorded the sixth-lowest score in the apparatus out of the 24 all-around finalists. Regaining his bearings, Yulo impressed with a pristine parallel bars routine that netted him 15.166 points – tied for the highest mark with Germany’s Lukas Dauser – as he ascended to sixth.
Hashimoto dethroned defending all-around titleholder Zhang Boheng in a fierce mano a mano between the Japanese and the Chinese for the gold medal.
