Guitarist Carlos Santana has seemingly changed his mind yet again, as he altered his apology on social media for his comments about transgender people.
Attendees of Santana's concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in July, alleged that the musician spent 15 minutes ranting on the topic of transgenderism before concluding: “A woman is a woman, and a man is a man.” Partial comments were captured in video and posted to social media, which prompted Santana to apologize for the"insensitive comments.
The musician was seemingly motivated by his faith when he initially made his comments mid-concert. He claimed, “When God made you and me — before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are.” “Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain’t right," Santana said. “Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it. Whatever you wanna do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m OK with that.”Santana's Facebook page has remained largely unchanged, losing only 4,000 likes in the last month from the 7.8 million he currently has.
Fellow musician Ne-Yo similarly walked back an apology he claimed came from his"publicist's computer." The apology made it seem like the pop and R&B star regretted making a stand against children receiving gender transition procedures, which he clarified was not the case. He later clarified the apology, saying he was sorry to those he offended, but he wasn't sorry about his opinion.
