Carlos Alcaraz grabbed his fourth major title and second Wimbledon men’s singles championship on Sunday in a stunning win over No. 2 Novak Djokovic.
In what was expected to be a close match on Sunday quickly looked like it would go otherwise, as No. 3 Alcaraz came out strong and continued until he clinched the win in just three sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 .
It wasn’t until the third set that Djokovic broke Alcaraz’s service for the first time in the match and started to settle in to his game.Barbora Krejcikova holds off Jasmine Paolini at Wimbledon for second Grand Slam title The Serbian star was able to stretch the set into a tiebreak — something the crowd appeared to be hoping for — but fell short to Alcaraz on a failed return off of his dominating serve.It was only a year ago that the pair met on grass in what was a thrilling five-set match across four hours and 42 minutes, showcasing two of the best generational talents.Prior to the final, Djokovic led 3-2 across six of their past meetings.
