A 64-year-old man turned himself into police after hitting a woman with his car in August and is now facing multiple charges.
On Aug. 29, Carlisle police officers received a report that a pedestrian had been hit near the intersection of S. Hanover St. and E. South St., according to officials. Police, along with the Carlisle Police Department and the Cumberland Goodwill EMS, responded to the call. At the scene, first responders treated Emily Compton, who police say was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.Police say a man named Douglas Gibb turned himself in for the crime, and is now facing charges of homicide by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, DUI and reckless driving.
Gibb is currently being held at the Cumberland County Prison, according to court documents. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13 at 9:15 a.m.
