/Gray News) - An Alabama woman who was accused of a kidnapping hoax after calling 911 to say she saw a child on the side of the interstate and then went missing was found guilty on two misdemeanor charges Wednesday.
The state recommended a maximum of one year in jail – six months for each charge, a fine of $831, plus restitution in the amount of $17,974.88.On July 13, Russell called 911 and reported she saw a toddler walking along the side of I-459. When police responded, they found Russell’s car still running on the side of the interstate and her phone, triggering a search that commanded national attention and concern.about Russell’s location during the 49 hours she was missing.
